Hi. I was just wondering if the site team had considered the possibility of turning the profiles section in to a full personals section? You could make responding to a personal ad have a value of say, 5 points.
I mention this because the profiles, although easier to search than before, still don't really help you find what you're looking for.
For example, it allows you to search by location, but you can't actually specify a location, England for example.
You can sort profiles by user ID, but that doesn't help you if you want to find all females between 21 and 30 who live in Germany.
Maybe you're looking for someone who smokes, or someone who has children. Maybe you want someone who won't mind your pet snakes, but the point is folks, XoneBBS is quickly becoming Thee place to meet others who are vision-impaired, and I am not aware of any personals websites up there that cater for us. Most rely on photo-personals, and have text-messaging features to let you know when someone's responded to your ad, but there are none out there that alurt you via a voice message, and hardly any personals sites offer audio clips as part of the ad. It would be ausom if the profiles section became a personals section, searchable in many ways. It could even have a facility to let you specify what
you're looking for by activating combo-boxes and/or check-boxes, and a system that email's potential matches to you periodically.
You would then use up some of your points responding to ads you like the look of, and for reading messages which are responses to your add.
This would not be the same as private mail!
Only responding to and viewing responses to ads placed in the personals section.
Anyways, I'd be interested to see what ppl think.

The profile section would need to be a lot different for this to happen. The way it is now, many people don't really say much at all about themselves. They ignore the "words of wisdom" section and the last section where you can talk about yourself. Many people answer the question about location with cutsie remarks such as "at my computer" rather than where they live. Many others don't give their ages. So to search by age group, personal likes and dislikes, location, etc. would be diffficult with the way the profiles are now. But it is a good idea.
